Welcome to the Monthly Digest of Method & Meaning.
I’ve got a little bit of everything for you this month: a conversation about building a business that actually pays for your life, a reframe on the “trust recession,” some opportunities to hang out IRL in Denver, and a few things that I read (or listened to) twice.
What’s catching your attention lately?
Shimmy your way down and see what pops out at you.
Didn’t expect it to go there…
In this silly-yet-practical episode, Mary Williams of School of Moxie and I use my comfort show, Brooklyn 99, to unpack how I created a business that pays for my life.
We cover:
- Reframing your niche as "the puzzle you never get tired of solving."
- Paying off $80K in student loans without business debt
- Why nobody gets to shame you for how you spend money, especially if you’re in a season where you need to prioritize your expensive essentials (*cough* health insurance).
Plus, we go down a fun rabbit hole as we talk Human Design, Tarot, and working with complementary types.
I’m changing how I talk about this
I’m officially retiring the phrase “trust recession.”
I don’t think people suddenly forgot how to trust. I think instead everyone is paying closer attention, asking more questions, sniffing out the BS, and letting discernment — not fabricated urgency — guide where they put their resources.
So…what do we actually do about that? Here are the 3 things I'm focusing on.
Denver friends, wanna hang out?
Therapist Chillout is winding down with our final events of the year.
The ever-popular 🔮 Tarot & Chill returns October 16th, with a few small-group coworking sessions right before holiday chaos consumes us all.
If you're in or around Denver (or even further away), join us for low-key networking events for Colorado-based therapists, wellness pros, and creatives who want to expand their network, meet kindred spirits, and deepen their roots in the Denver small business community.
Events are announced through a private email list, which requires a separate opt-in (because: consent!). Click below 👇 to ensure you receive future Therapist Chillout emails. Change your preferences at any time.
Made me look (or listen) twice
